Our Purpose

Mission & Vision

Why Zaag exists, what it stands for, and where it is going.

Our Mission

Zaag University, pursuing degree-granting authority through PEQAB and MCU Consent to Confer, advances knowledge by insisting that ideas be tested against reality. Founded on the motto Quod Erat Demonstrandum — Q.E.D., proven through action — we design programmes that move from rigorous inquiry to demonstrated outcome. We operate transparently: building in public, sharing our regulatory milestones openly, and holding ourselves accountable to the communities we serve. Our institutional framework embeds OCAP® principles, aligns with UNDRIP, and responds directly to the TRC Calls to Action — including Call 92 across all business programming — because reconciliation is not a supplement to academic excellence; it is a prerequisite for it.

Our Vision

Zaag is building the institution the next generation of researchers, practitioners, and leaders actually needs — one built around Canada's Four Pillars of critical need: Healthcare & Emergency Medicine, Technology & AI, Policy & Leadership, and Applied Disciplines. When undergraduate programmes open in September 2026 and graduate programmes in September 2027, students will enter a university designed from first principles for interdisciplinary, applied, and community-embedded work. We are not replicating what came before. We are demonstrating what comes next.

Strategic Pillars

The four pillars that drive our institutional strategy and daily operations.

Healthcare & Emergency Medicine

Home to Canada's first Bachelor of Emergency Medicine (B.EMS) and a full spectrum of allied health and nursing programmes, this pillar integrates VR/MR simulation, clinical partnerships, and a paramedic pathway running from EMR through PCP/AEMCA to ACP and degree completion. ZaagClinic operates as both a student health resource and an active clinical training site.

Technology & AI

From embedded systems and software engineering to applied AI research and data science, Zaag's technology programmes are built on the conviction that computational literacy is a foundational skill across every discipline. The AI & Applied Technology Institute supports faculty and student research with access to real-world datasets and industry collaboration.

Policy & Leadership

Business, public administration, and interdisciplinary policy programmes equip graduates to lead institutions, shape regulation, and drive systems change. Indigenous advisors hold full voting rights on all Programme Advisory Committees. TRC Call 92 is embedded in every business programme. Governance frameworks align with UNDRIP and OCAP® principles throughout.

Applied Disciplines

Culinary arts, trades, emerging media, and design disciplines that require hands-on mastery. These programmes honour the dignity of applied and technical skill, producing graduates who make things — food, structures, software, media — to a professional standard, supported by dedicated facilities and industry-connected mentorship.

"Quod Erat Demonstrandum" — ideas proven through action, not aspiration.
