Academic Excellence
Faculties & Schools
Eight faculties. 79+ programmes. One integrated institution where disciplines talk to each other.
Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Disciplines
Dean: TBC
Home to Canada's first Bachelor of Emergency Medicine (B.EMS), the Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Disciplines delivers the full Paramedic Pathway — EMR → PCP/AEMCA → ACP → B.EMS — alongside nursing, health sciences, and allied health programmes. Delivery is hybrid with VR/MR simulation embedded throughout clinical training. ZaagClinic serves a dual mandate: student health resource and active clinical training site. The faculty's research arm is anchored by the Emergency Medicine Research Centre, the Health Sciences Research Centre, and the Biomedical Research Institute.
Faculty of Engineering & Technology
Dean: TBC
The Faculty of Engineering & Technology trains engineers and technologists who build systems that function in real-world conditions. Programmes span software engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil infrastructure, with applied AI running as a thread across disciplines. The AI & Applied Technology Institute sits within this faculty, supporting student and faculty research with NSERC and ORF funding. Co-op placements begin early; industry-embedded capstone projects are compulsory.
Faculty of Business Administration
Dean: TBC
The Faculty of Business Administration prepares graduates to lead organisations, navigate policy, and build ventures that last. TRC Call 92 is embedded in every business programme, and Indigenous advisors hold full voting rights on all Programme Advisory Committees. Graduate business programmes confer the Master of Science (M.Sc.) credential. Programmes are available hybrid or online-only. The Policy & Leadership Research Centre and a dedicated entrepreneurship stream connect academic theory to practice from the first term.
Faculty of Arts & Sciences
Dean: TBC
The Faculty of Arts & Sciences encompasses humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences — disciplines that ask the questions every other faculty depends on. Critical analysis, rigorous argument, and empirical reasoning are foundational skills taught here and applied everywhere. Programmes in psychology, sociology, political science, environmental science, and the liberal arts are available in hybrid format; humanities programmes offer an online-only pathway. The Interdisciplinary Research Institute draws faculty and students from across this faculty and its neighbours.
Faculty of Applied & Technical Skills
Dean: TBC
The Faculty of Applied & Technical Skills is built on the conviction that trades and applied technical disciplines deserve the same institutional rigour as any research programme. Programmes in culinary arts and skilled trades require in-person delivery — the work demands physical presence, and Zaag's facilities are designed for it. The Culinary & Applied Food Sciences Centre supports both training and applied research. Graduates leave with credentials and competencies that employers recognise immediately.
Faculty of Emerging Media & Design
Dean: TBC
The Faculty of Emerging Media & Design produces graduates who work at the intersection of technology, creativity, and communication. Programmes in graphic design, digital media, UX, and the applied arts — including BFA.VR, an applied arts credential in virtual reality production — reflect the industries that are defining visual culture now. Every programme culminates in a public exhibition or portfolio review. The Emerging Media & Design faculty works closely with the AI & Applied Technology Institute on emerging tools and production methodologies.
Interdisciplinary & Unique Programs
Dean: TBC
Some of the most important questions do not belong to a single faculty. Interdisciplinary & Unique Programs brings together students and faculty from across all eight academic divisions to work on problems that resist disciplinary boundaries — from global health policy to the ethics of AI to Indigenous governance frameworks. OCAP® principles and UNDRIP alignment are woven into programme design. The M.Sc.N+NP (Master of Science in Nursing with embedded Nurse Practitioner Certificate) is housed here as a combined credential.
Research Centres & Institutes
Dean: TBC
Zaag's nine research centres are not administrative units — they are active research environments that enrol students, host visiting scholars, and generate publishable output. Each centre is mapped to a programme area and supports both graduate research and faculty-led projects. Funding flows from SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, and ORF. The nine centres are: Emergency Medicine Research Centre; AI & Applied Technology Institute; Health Sciences Research Centre; Indigenous Health & Community Research Institute; Policy & Leadership Research Centre; Environmental & Applied Sciences Research Centre; Biomedical Research Institute; Culinary & Applied Food Sciences Centre; and Interdisciplinary Research Institute.
