Student Housing

ZaagVille

Your campus. Your community. — Student housing, dining, community programming, and an Indigenous cultural space designed to make the transition to university life feel grounded and genuinely supported.

Platform Overview

Home Away From Home

ZaagVille was designed on a premise that most university housing ignores: that the quality of a student's residential experience has a measurable effect on academic outcomes, and that the two should therefore be planned together. The residential village was master-planned alongside the academic core, with explicit adjacency requirements — no ZaagVille hall is more than eight minutes' walk from any faculty building — and with common spaces designed by behavioural architects to encourage the spontaneous social and academic interaction associated with student retention and belonging. Every hall has a dedicated study lounge with whiteboards and display screens, a social common room, and a Residence Life office staffed during evening hours on weekdays.

All first-year domestic students and all incoming international students are guaranteed a ZaagVille placement — a commitment that reflects Zaag's conviction that the residential experience is not peripheral to the university experience but constitutive of it. The Residence Life programme produced by the dedicated Residence Life team includes academic skills workshops, cultural programming informed by the diversity of the student body, and community events that create the conditions for the relationships that define a university education long after graduation. ZaagVille's Your campus. Your community. tagline is a description of intent, not a marketing phrase.

Living at ZaagVille

A complete residential experience designed around comfort, community, and academic success.

Student Residences

Single, double, and suite configurations are available, each furnished and supported by Residence Advisors on a consistent resident-to-staff ratio. Common areas, study spaces, and 24-hour front desk service provide a structured and secure living environment for students arriving from across Ontario and beyond.

Indigenous Cultural Space

ZaagVille includes a dedicated Indigenous cultural space developed in genuine partnership with Indigenous community members and advisors who hold full voting rights on relevant advisory committees. The space reflects OCAP® principles, UNDRIP, and TRC Calls to Action, and serves as a home base for Indigenous students and programming on campus.

Dining Services

On-campus dining serves students daily with menus prepared by in-house culinary staff, including halal, vegan, and allergen-conscious options. Meal plan configurations are designed to accommodate varied schedules and dietary needs, informed by Zaag's Culinary & Applied Food Sciences Centre.

Community Programming

ZaagVille's Residence Life team runs programming throughout the year — cultural celebrations, academic support events, wellness activities, and community gatherings that reflect the full diversity of the student body. Programming is developed collaboratively with residents and student leaders each term.

Study & Collaboration Spaces

Every residence area includes dedicated quiet study rooms and collaborative group work spaces. All study areas are connected to the campus network and equipped with whiteboards and monitors, supporting students working on everything from individual assignments to group projects across Zaag's 79+ programs.

Safety & Support

All entry points use proximity card access linked to student ID, with 24-hour front desk staffing in each building. A dedicated Residence Safety line connects directly to Campus Security and ZaagClinic's support services, ensuring students can access help at any hour.
