Programs & Faculties

79+ programmes across 8 faculties — launching in phases, starting September 2026 for undergraduate and September 2027 for graduate. Built around proof, not prestige.

Seventy-nine-plus programmes across eight faculties is a number that warrants explanation. It does not mean 79 variations on the same credential. It means that the full spectrum of the four pillars — Healthcare & Emergency Medicine, Technology & AI, Policy & Leadership, and Applied Disciplines — is represented by programmes designed from the ground up, with delivery models, PAC compositions, and learning outcomes appropriate to each discipline. The four programmes currently active under proxy agreements — B.EMS, Dip.APC, Dip.CPC, and Dip.EMS — represent the paramedic and emergency medicine pathway that anchors the Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Disciplines at undergraduate launch in September 2026.

Programme design at Zaag follows a review cycle governed by the Senate, with external Programme Advisory Committees whose Indigenous members hold full voting rights. The result is a catalogue that responds to what is actually happening in the disciplines, in the regulatory environment, and in the communities Zaag's graduates will serve. Five flagship programmes are in active regulatory review under PEQAB. The full catalogue opens to undergraduate enrolment in September 2026 — with 38 bachelor's programmes and 8 diploma and certificate programmes — and graduate programmes (33 master's and doctoral degrees across 10 academic divisions organised into 8 faculties) follow in September 2027.

What Makes Our Programmes Different

The Paramedic Pathway

Zaag's four-step paramedic pathway — EMR → PCP/AEMCA → ACP → B.EMS — is the clearest expression of the institution's credential philosophy: stackable, sequential, and tied to real-world scope-of-practice milestones. Each step builds on the last. The Bachelor of Emergency Medicine is Canada's first, designed for the paramedic who wants to lead, research, and shape the field rather than simply practise within it. All four steps are active under proxy agreements, delivered in hybrid format with VR/MR simulation for clinical components.

Delivery Matched to Discipline

Delivery is not a one-size-fits-all decision at Zaag: hybrid for most programmes; hybrid plus VR/MR simulation for health and paramedic tracks; in-person required for culinary and trades; online-only option for humanities; hybrid or online-only for business. This differentiation is a structural commitment — it reflects genuine pedagogical reasoning about how different disciplines develop competence and is embedded in programme design from the outset, not added as an accommodation.

Eight Faculties, Four Pillars

The Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Disciplines (18 programmes), Faculty of Engineering & Technology (12), Faculty of Business Administration (10), Faculty of Arts & Humanities (11), Faculty of Education (5), Faculty of Emerging Media & Design (6), Interdisciplinary & Unique Programs (8), and Research Centres & Institutes (9) together span every dimension of the four pillars. The 79+ programme catalogue was designed as a coherent whole, with cross-faculty linkages embedded in programme requirements from the outset.

Spotlight

Programme Spotlight: Bachelor of Emergency Medicine (B.EMS)

Canada's first Bachelor of Emergency Medicine is the flagship programme of Zaag University and the culmination of the four-step paramedic pathway. Designed for Advanced Care Paramedics seeking leadership, research, and policy roles, the B.EMS integrates clinical excellence with the analytical and interprofessional competencies that emergency medicine leadership demands. The programme is delivered in hybrid format with VR/MR simulation for clinical components, and is governed by a Programme Advisory Committee that includes working paramedics, emergency physicians, and Indigenous health advisors with full voting rights. Five flagship programmes including B.EMS are in active regulatory review under PEQAB, with undergraduate launch targeted for September 2026.

How We Deliver

Delivery is matched to discipline — because how you learn is as important as what you learn.

Hybrid Learning

In-person instruction combined with structured online components — the default model across most programmes. Designed so that remote and on-campus participants engage on equal footing.

VR/MR Simulation

Embedded throughout health and engineering programmes — from paramedic clinical skills to biomedical lab work. VR/MR simulation is a core instructional tool, not an add-on, and is built into programme requirements from day one.

Online Pathways

Humanities and business programmes offer an online-only option — enabling working professionals and students outside the Quinte region to complete their degree without relocating. The same curriculum, the same standards.

In-Person Labs

Culinary arts and trades programmes require in-person attendance — there is no substitute for hands-on skill development in a professional kitchen or workshop. Industry practicum is a graduation requirement for all applied technical programmes.
